The Corniche is less a single restaurant strip than a long waterfront district, so the best dinner plan starts with the kind of evening you want — hotel dining, skyline views, a relaxed terrace or a meal paired with a promenade walk.

Abu Dhabi's Corniche runs for kilometres, and its restaurant scene spreads across beach-adjacent hotels, towers and side streets rather than forming one continuous row of tables. That matters when choosing where to eat: a restaurant near the eastern end can be a long way from Nation Towers or the western hotel cluster. Check the exact location before reserving, especially if your evening also includes the beach, Observation Deck at 300 or another waterfront stop.
The strongest reason to eat here is the setting. You can combine a proper sit-down meal with the public promenade, sea views and Abu Dhabi's evening skyline without committing to a full resort night out.
For a polished hotel meal, the Corniche has several long-established international hotels with all-day restaurants, lounges and destination dining. The St. Regis Abu Dhabi's Terrace on the Corniche is a current example of a substantial hotel restaurant, while Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche also operates Corniche All Day Dining. At the western end, the Etihad Towers area adds elevated and panoramic options.
If the view matters more than a formal dinner, consider a lounge or terrace and keep the meal lighter. Observation Deck at 300 at Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers sits on level 74 and serves coffee, tea and afternoon-tea style food with wide Corniche and Gulf views. Grand Hyatt's Pearl Lounge has an outdoor terrace and sea outlook. These are useful alternatives when you want the setting without a long tasting-menu evening.
The waterfront naturally attracts seafood-led menus, but the Corniche is not a specialist seafood precinct. Hotel restaurants mix Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Asian and international cooking, and concepts change over time. Treat old lists of named dishes or fixed set menus cautiously: check the current restaurant page or menu before travelling across town for one particular item.
For travellers with dietary needs, larger hotels are often easier because menus and reservation teams are available online and staff can usually explain allergens or vegetarian choices. Still, confirm directly rather than assuming a buffet or all-day venue can accommodate every requirement.
Nation Towers and Etihad Towers are useful anchors if your priority is skyline views and a more polished night out. You can walk a section of the Corniche first, then move into one of the nearby hotel towers for dinner or drinks. This end also works well if you are staying around Al Bateen, Khalidiya or the western Corniche because you avoid crossing the whole city after dinner.
Do not assume that every venue marketed as “Corniche” sits directly on the pedestrian promenade. Some are inside towers or hotels across Corniche Road, so a short taxi can be more comfortable than trying to walk a complicated junction in heat or humidity.
Abu Dhabi dining is reservation-friendly rather than reservation-obsessed, but popular hotel venues, Friday or Saturday programmes, holiday meals and tables with the best views can fill. If a particular restaurant matters to your trip, book rather than relying on a walk-in. For an ordinary flexible weeknight, you can usually keep more options open.
Ask about outdoor seating when you reserve. A terrace can be the whole point in cooler months, while air-conditioned indoor seating is often the better choice in the hottest part of the year.
The Corniche spans casual cafes through luxury hotels, so there is no useful single “Corniche price”. A hotel restaurant with alcohol, premium seafood or a view can be one of the more expensive meals of a trip; a simpler restaurant a street or two back can cost far less. Look at the current menu before booking and remember that drinks, service arrangements and special brunch or set-menu formats can materially change the final bill.
If value matters, spend the sunset on the free public promenade and choose your meal for food rather than paying solely for a view. If this is your one celebratory dinner, the opposite strategy can make sense: choose the table and setting first, then build the evening around it.
Licensed hotel restaurants and lounges may serve alcohol, while many independent restaurants do not. Never assume a venue serves alcohol because it looks upscale. Check the current listing if that matters to you.
Smart-casual clothing is a safe default for an upscale hotel dinner. Beachwear belongs at the beach, and individual restaurants can set stricter rules for evening service. Abu Dhabi is generally relaxed in international hotels, but a small amount of planning avoids an awkward change of clothes.
For an easy evening, arrive at the waterfront before sunset, walk the section closest to your chosen restaurant, and leave enough time to cross Corniche Road or take a short taxi if the venue is inside a hotel tower. Eat after the heat has eased, then return to the promenade for the illuminated skyline if conditions are comfortable.
If you have only one night in this part of the city, choose one anchor rather than trying to sample the whole Corniche. A good waterfront walk plus one well-chosen restaurant is more enjoyable than spending the evening moving between distant hotel clusters.
