The Corniche's cafe strip is where a lot of Abu Dhabi's day-to-day social life actually happens.
Positioned right along the promenade, these cafes serve everyone from morning joggers grabbing a coffee to families settling in for a long sunset session — a genuinely mixed, unpretentious crowd compared with some of the city's more formal dining venues.
Expect a mix of international chains and independent cafes, generally reliable Arabic and international breakfast options, and outdoor seating that's most comfortable in the cooler months or early/late in the day during summer.
A common local routine is a walk or cycle along part of the Corniche followed by breakfast at one of the cafes — arriving hungry after some activity makes the wait for a table (common at the more popular spots on weekend mornings) feel less like a chore.
