An 8-kilometre curve of waterfront promenade, parks and beach that functions as Abu Dhabi's real public living room.
Rather than a single attraction, the Corniche is a long, landscaped stretch of coastline running along the western edge of Abu Dhabi Island, combining a dedicated cycling path, walking promenade, public parks, playgrounds and several public and semi-private beach sections. Locals use it for evening walks, family picnics and weekend cycling as much as visitors use it for sightseeing.
Early morning and the hour or two around sunset are when the Corniche is most alive — cooler temperatures, joggers and cyclists out, and views back toward the skyline and Emirates Palace lit up. Midday, especially in the warmer months, is largely empty by comparison.
Emirates Palace sits near the Corniche's western end, several major hotels line the promenade, and small cafes and kiosks are dotted along its length for a coffee stop mid-walk or ride.
