Abu Dhabi has many hotels with pools and children's facilities, but “family-friendly” can mean very different things. A Yas Island hotel is convenient for theme parks. A Saadiyat resort is better for beach days and museums. A city or Grand Canal resort can give you more balanced access to the rest of Abu Dhabi.
Start with how the family will spend most days. Then compare room configuration, meal plan, kids' club, pool setup and transport. Those practical details often matter more than a long list of generic family amenities.
Yas Island is the simplest base when Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, Yas Waterworld or SeaWorld are the main reason for visiting. The island's hotels sit close to the attractions, and current Yas Stay & Play packages can include theme-park access with selected hotel stays.

The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal is one of the family-friendly hotels highlighted by Abu Dhabi tourism and suits travellers who want a resort setting without basing the whole trip on Yas or Saadiyat. The Grand Canal area also keeps Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque close and gives fairly direct road access to multiple parts of the city.
Central resort hotels can work similarly: you keep pools, restaurants and hotel facilities while remaining closer to general sightseeing than a theme-park-specific base.
Look beyond the phrase “kids' club”. Check the minimum age, supervision rules, operating hours and whether activities are included. For pools, ask about shade, shallow areas and lifeguards. For rooms, confirm whether the configuration actually sleeps your family without relying on an assumption about sofa beds or rollaways.
Connecting rooms can be more valuable than a nominal family room for older children. With younger children, a bath, blackout curtains, fridge space and easy breakfast may matter more than a flashy lobby.
